2023-06-13 20:39:30 J6, Alpha Mike Romeo with a comment.
2023-06-13 20:39:41 stuff right there. I got J6 Alfa Mike for only bill.
2023-06-13 20:43:02 Alpha Bravo 7, Romeo, Romeo. Romeo, I'm rechecking, but go ahead and take Bob first. Yeah, Bob, I got your check in. It's the guy behind you. Let's finish with you, Bob. What have you got to say about how to not cut yourself in your pocket? Yeah, WA-7SO, I'm the WA-7S repeat. Thanks, John. Sorry about it. I doubled with you too, Rusty. John, you keep your pocket knife sharp. And yeah, I like the ceramic rods too. I have a, I think it's made by Lee. I have a sharpening kit where there's four different stones and you attach a metal rod and you put the knife in a vise and a little vise on the stand. And it has four different angles. You can sharpen them to different angles. And then I have a couple of really good wet stones for my kitchen knives. So, and I am a fan of two brands of knives and I have lots of both. One of them is Vitronox. It's my favorite pocket knife. But I also have a whole bunch of Vitronox kitchen knives. So a boning knife, like Rusty said, and some slice-me knives. And a big, big slicing knife. So, and then of course steel. I use steel on my, to keep the edge on my kitchen knives quite frequently so you don't have to use the wet stones as much. And then the other one is my hunting knives. And I have quite a few of those that are made by Knives of Alaska. Knives of Alaska is a very good knife. So, it's, yeah, I have a special bag for all the knives that I take with me hunting. So that, and then you know one or two of them I keep in my pack so I can skin and then gut and skin. So, oh, and I forget the brand. I'd have to look at that one. I actually have a special knife that doesn't have a point. It's got a little ball on the end of it for cutting the fur when you, so you don't hit the guts when you're starting to skin a large animal. So, very good question, John. Thanks for doing the net. Alpha Bravo 7, Romeo, Romeo. Thank you, Bob. Yeah, I've got a couple of hunting knives too. It's a skidding knife. It's got a rounded front. It's not sharpened. And I haven't used it in a long time, but yeah, I got one of those too. Yes, well, let's go on to Rusty. Rusty, what's the first letter in your callsign? Is it W or K? Rusty, that's a W-A-7-S-O. (fan whirring)
2023-06-13 20:44:31 Yeah, I'm rechecking. Kilo Juliet 6 Alpha Mike Romeo. And I thought a little bit about the comment earlier with what type of oil to use on the whetstone. And you know, there are times when there is no oil, and I'll tell you, a little spit works just as well, as you said, to remove the debris from the stone. So, you know, that whetstone can be wet any multitude of ways. It doesn't have to even be oil. Anyway, and then I've got an honorable mention. Nobody said anything about the old multi-tools. That used to be so popular. I used to carry one all the time on my hip. When I worked on aircraft, if you needed a Phillips to remove a cowl or a common screwdriver, or if you needed a scale fish, remove a hook, open a beer. There are about three different knives in there as well, along with needle-nose pliers at the end. It makes me want to put it back on my hip. They were so handy. So I'll turn it back over to you, John. Thanks for letting me back in, my friend. KJ6 AMR. KJ6 AMR, WV7S. Thank you, Rusty. And you're right. You can use one or two.

2023-06-13 20:46:07 Leatherman used to be the most popular brand of WPH you can see. (egg cracking)
2023-06-13 20:46:37 Yes, indeed. Ray, it was the Leatherman. And I had several of those. I actually had a bunch of work for a run around labs. In the fire department, the department bought a Leatherman for everybody in the department. And it was just a handy tool for everybody. Okay, I think Bob is going off to have a couple of...
2023-06-13 20:47:06 Well, there's WA6, ENJ, and... (shaver buzzing)
2023-06-13 20:47:20 Karen, kiss me just three times.

2023-06-13 20:48:00 This is Karen K7UGS. Also I found when I was going through all that storage stuff of Tid's, uh, my late husband, there was a whole box full of knives and none of those, uh,
2023-06-13 20:48:50 I'll do it again.
2023-06-13 20:50:40 Thank you.
2023-06-13 20:51:15 Good evening everybody.
2023-06-13 20:51:30
2023-06-13 20:54:05 I know I can't seem to entertain anybody else to join us. So Dennis, you take it. N7NTMWA7SO. Well, good evening to everybody on the net. Just got out of Walmart, doing some shopping after Bible study this evening. So there's part of the reason why I've not been on earlier than this. I'm trying to do my darndest to remember to get out to the radio and check on to the net. Also, let's see, a headset and a foot pedal arrived for my Yatesu today. So I'm looking forward to trying those out hopefully before field day, but at least by field day, if not before then. Hoping to do a little bit of on-the-air stuff from the home. And question for the person that knows the most about field day for the club. If my wife and I were to drop in unannounced, would we be able to get in and would we be welcomed to say hello? Other than that, we'll toss it back to the net and be here listening. N7NTMWA7SO. N7NTMWA7SO. Josh is the man that knows the most. But I can tell you the answer to the question is yes. I've been at many fields and you're always welcome there. You can probably get a cup of coffee and maybe a donut or something. Yes, indeed, you'll be welcome there. If you want to contact Josh, he's the one to get it. And I'm looking for Josh's call letter right now. I don't have it anywhere right now. Somebody else will come up with it, I'm sure. And the question for tonight was knives. Your first knife, you carry a pocket knife, your kitchen knife, how do you sharpen them? Who first taught you not to cut yourself? Back to Dennis W87SO. (holding in breath)
2023-06-13 20:55:19 Well, let's see. My dad always told me to be careful with knives. That's when I was growing up. Wasn't real keen on anything that would be sharp, but that's okay. I understand now some ways why. And a whole bunch of common sense, like don't clean them with your thumb when you're in a conversation. I tried that once. Mentally flipped the knife over, but I didn't mentally flip the direction of the thumb. Didn't require any stitches, but it sure smarked for a while and we had to have a bandage on it for a couple of days. But, uh, oh well, the things that we do when we're younger and we're not so intelligent. As far as having one, I've got a pocket knife that I'm probably going to need to replace because it isn't staying as closed as I would like it to. It's only about 5, 6 years old. And
2023-06-13 20:56:30 Okay, silence is golden. Anybody got any comments, questions, or instructions for WSXPNJ, go direct them.
2023-06-13 20:56:44 I'm going to tie a ribbon on this for a little bit.
2023-06-13 20:58:07 Good evening, Ed, if you're still there, and 7NTM Mobile. (static)
2023-06-13 20:58:20 Well, good evening, Dennis. N7NTM, here is WA6PNJ. How's everything? [ELECTRIC BUZZING]
2023-06-13 20:58:47 Is it time for the weekend yet? It sure feels like it. Oh, wait a minute. Today's only Tuesday. Uh...some words I can't say on the radio. Anyway, um... It has been one long, frustrating week already. And there are three more days to go. Debating about calling in sick for the next three days. (machinery humming)
2023-06-13 20:59:03 Oh, the one guy at Lockheed used to call in sick. He says he has eye trouble. He just couldn't see coming into work. (electronic buzz)
2023-06-13 20:59:30 I full heartedly agree with him. And then I just had somebody... Now, keep in mind, I'm southbound on 67th Avenue, there are three lanes of traffic, and I'm in the curb lane, and somebody just made a sharp right-hand turn in front of me. Without signaling. I thought the nuts were...
2023-06-13 20:59:47 Well, he either got lost or he's from the California Central Valley. It's one or the other. (static)
2023-06-13 21:00:06 and not say what my bet is. By the way, how's this for a rhetorical question? True or false? The only thing that's holding the car together is the nut behind the wheel. (static)
2023-06-13 21:00:27 It's been said that's the part that causes the most trouble. What do they say in Los Angeles? Oh, all my L.A. witticisms are all in the... All got buried in the garbage avalanche. There'll be another soon. Maybe I'll come up with one.
2023-06-13 21:00:44 And how long have you been away from sick land? Yeah, it's been, uh, when did I move out here? 1985. I went back a couple of years.
2023-06-13 21:00:58
2023-06-13 21:01:19 Oh, I'm head wist'n...
2023-06-13 21:02:00 Well, if I said I'm not--
2023-06-13 21:03:47 Oh
2023-06-13 21:04:53
2023-06-13 21:05:34
2023-06-13 21:06:11 Going on the other side of the plane on that one, yeah, some of them need to be drafted right out of their office to, uh, well, I'll let you fill in the blank. Thanks for watching.
2023-06-13 21:06:22 an extended stay at our luxury resort at Chez Leavenworth in Kansas. (electric buzzing)
2023-06-13 21:06:30 For some of them, isn't that too good? (foghorn blowing)
2023-06-13 21:06:45 Yeah, for some of them, oh boy. Well, we'll get together over a cup of coffee and a slice of pie some night and we'll really chop 'em up. [static]
2023-06-13 21:07:30 Yeah, and the mouth filter won't have to be on near as tight. Anyway, I appreciate the chat, Ed. I needed the relaxation, the laughs, etc., etc. Not too far from home at this point. Get to feed the cat, go to sleep, and start tomorrow all over again. And, um, getting a phone call from the better half, so I better take that. N7N, TM Mobile. Oh boy, there's an important call. You better get to it. Best wishes to you and Donna. Gee, have a pleasant evening. The best you can.
